Battaglia:"To me it was never a problem to go to Italy"

Boca Juniors midfielder Sebastian Battaglia has been haunted from Lazio since 2007. When he was very close to fly to Rome, rumours wanted him to stay in Buenos Aires because his wife didn’t want to go to Italy. In the end the deal wasn’t done and Battaglia stayed at Boca where he won an Apertura tournament last December and where he achieved the best average points in the last three seasons with the Xeneize team. The Clausura is almost over and Boca is not fighting for anything. The team is in the middle of a chaos with former coach Schiavi being fired and former Argentina national team coach Basile taking charge of the team in the closing game at Colon.
Yesterday Alessandro Zappulla reached Battaglia on the phone for lalaziosiamonoi.it web site and the Argentinean midfielder went on to say: «My agent keeps talking every day with someone at Lazio. For what I’m concerned, I don’t have any problem about joining such an important team. I’d leave immediately». He said he’s ready to replace Ledesma in that position. he can play both as left and right central midfielder and he wouldn’t have any problem in getting used do what the former Lecce player used to do. «To me it’s natural to intercept balls, tackle the opposition and set out a new action. Also I’d be delighted to play alongside Zarate: he’s got real qualities». While he also had a thought about Argentina and maybe next Real Zaragoza goalkeeper: «About Carrizo it should be good for him if he considers leaving. He needs to play more than last season if he wants to draw some attention from Maradona and be included in the Argentina national team that will feature in South Africa next summer».
