Mark Bresciano is the first and only signing so far
Australian midfielder Mark Bresciano (30) is set to continue playing football in Italy, joining Lazio, the player confirmed on July 3rd but the club officially claimed that the player had signed only today 6th July.
The 30-year-old, fresh from the Socceroos campaign in South Africa, made the announcement on SBS television as a guest on the World Cup-themed program Santo, Sam and Ed's Cup Fever.
Speaking by phone from Venice, Bresciano said he signed a two-year contract in Rome on Thursday.
He had been a free agent after being released by Palermo at the end of last season.
Lazio is Bresciano's fourth Serie A club; he began at Empoli from 1999-2002 before joining Parma (02-06) and Palermo (06-10)
Bresciano told SBS’s Santo Sam and Ed’s Cup Fever that he was delighted with the switch.
“I’m really happy with the move”, Bresciano said.
Meanwhile Kevin Prince Boateng appears to be close but the deal has not been concluded yet. Lazio keep searching for some fresh talent but at the same time they need to sell or loan most of their players (18) for coach Edy Reja would like to have no more than 24-26 players when the pre-season officially starts (that is at the end of this week). The new kits will be unveiled on Thursday July 8th at Formello training ground.
